‘Walking Dead’ Stuntman Seriously Injured Shuts Down Production

A stuntman working on the AMC show ‘The Walking Dead’ was seriously injured shutting production of the entire show down. The stuntman John Bernecker, has worked on the show for the past 7 seasons and was working on production for the upcoming season 8. The show released a statement, “We are saddened to report that John Bernecker a talented stuntman for ‘The Walking Dead’ and numerous other shows and films suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on the set.” Bernecker was immediately taken to an Atlanta hospital via a ‘flight for life’ plane.

Sources told deadline that Bernecker has series head injuries caused when he fell from a platform 30 feet down to a concrete landing. The show said production had to be halted and fans and friends of the show should pray for John and his family. Sag-Aftra unions Bernecker belongs to, are investigating the incident. The union today said they were informed of their member Bernecker’s injury on the set of the AMC show, and they are interviewing witnesses that saw the accident.

Bernecker’s girlfriend who is stunt woman, Jennifer Cocker, said that every doctor and neurosurgeon should weigh in on John’s diagnosis” until one of them sees the life we all know he has in him and bring him back to us, this isn’t fair.” The star of ‘Walking Dead’ Laura Cohan took to social media to tell fans and followers of the show, to pray for “our stuntman John Bernecker and his family.” According to sources Bernecker is on life support, and he is currently surrounded by family members. There is no word on when  production will resume. The season 8 premier was set to begin on October 16th, 2017. The show is filmed exclusively in Atlanta, Georgia and Alexandria, Virginia.
