Whoopi Goldberg Reveals She Almost Died After Contracting Septic Pneumonia

Whoopi Goldberg has not been at her ‘hosting desk’ on ‘The View’ since February 6th. Joy Behar would start each show saying Goldberg ‘was very sick’ and ‘we all miss her, and get well.’ On Friday’s show, Goldberg addressed the issue of her health herself. In a taped segment, Goldberg said she had come down with double pneumonia and she was septic. She said ‘I’m getting better, but I’m not moving around as well I would like to, but I’m on the mend.’ Goldberg said when gets back to ‘The View’ she would talk more about her health.

No return date was given, Goldberg also revealed that her condition was serious and ‘she almost left the earth.’ She continued, “but I didn’t leave I’m here, and I’ll be back.” Goldberg has been a co-host of ‘The View’ since 2007. There were rumors during her absence that she was gone because she was going to be a surprise host of the Oscars. When the co-hosts returned to the show after the Oscars, Behar said” see I told you that Whoopie was not going to host the Oscars.” Goldberg was a no show at ‘Love Rocks NYC event on Friday.

No explanation for Goldberg’s absence was given, the Oscar winner was slated to co-host the event with Martin Short. The evening was sold out, and the printed programs had hosted ‘by Whoopi Goldberg and Martin Short.’ The event benefited the charity ‘God’s Love We Deliver.” Sheryl Crow, Robert Plant and Nancy and Ann Wilson of ‘Heart’ performed at the event. Goldberg’s twitter account announced on ‘Thursday’ that Goldberg would address her health on Friday’s show. The Oscar winner’s activities have been completely ‘curtailed’ during her illness. A source said ‘All Whoopi can do is go to doctor appointments.’ The source added other than the doctor, she doesn’t leave her home.
