It’s official after being separated for 10 months, Sydney Davis Bush filed for divorce from her husband Billy Bush. The couple have been married for 20 years, they have three daughters, Mary, Lillie and Josephine. The divorce filing is asking for primary custody of the couple’s youngest two daughters. The oldest daughter, ‘Josie’ is an adult, the filing calls for Bush to receive visitation with the two youngest girls. The couple legally separated in September of 2017, after a difficult year of Bush being publicly scorned.
Billy Bush was a TV anchor on ‘The Today Show’ on NBC, but after the revelation of an audio tape between Bush and then candidate Donald Trump surfaced, he was fired from the network. The tape made in 2005 while Bush was hosting the entertainment show ‘Access Hollywood’, Trump was the star of the reality tv show ‘The Apprentice’, he was appearing on the show. The tape revealed inappropriate banter between Trump and Bush. The tape being leaked, completely destroyed Bush’s career, Trump went on to win the presidency. Friends of the former couple said that the public scorn after the tape was leaked, was hard on the marriage.
They had long standing issues before the tape, but the ‘tape surfacing was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back.’ At the time of the separation a lawyer for Bush said, “The couple were just taking a break. It’s not true that Sydney left him, they love each other, but are just reevaluating their life together and working on issues.” A confidant of Sydney’s told TMZ that ‘the tape and Bush’s inappropriate remarks, made her feel humiliated and hurt. The damage was done and there was a very slim chance they could come back from that.’ Bush appeared on a few tv shows in December of 2017 apologizing for his remarks, he still remains unemployed.
