Zayn Malik Says New Song ‘Let Me’ Is About His Ex Gigi Hadid

Singer Zayn Malik made a confession to Ryan Seacrest during a phone interview. Zayn revealed that his new song, ‘Let Me’ is about his former girlfriend model Gigi Hadid. The former couple were dating for two years. Their split which they announced on March 13th, stunned many of their fans. Malik told Seacrest that he wrote the song ‘Let Me’ about eight months ago when he was still dating Hadid. Malik a native of England was previously engaged to singer, Perri Edwards, the coupled ended their engagement in 2015. Malik and Hadid started to date shortly after he split from Edwards.

Of the thought process that went into the song, ‘Let Me’ Malik explained. “I was in love, and think that’s pretty evident. I was aspiring to be in love with someone for the rest of my life. Things change and we move forward in life. Times change, but that’s what I was thinking when I wrote it.” Although the couple broke up, Malik decided to keep the song track. The singer went on, “we go through experiences so we have memories and stories and things to write down and contemplate and think about. You get to really put your experience into something. It should be remembered forever.”

The song ‘Let Me’ is part of Malik’s second album, he said he wrote all of the songs himself. Malik said “I’m really proud of the album and excited for people to hear all the songs.” Malik was formerly with the band ‘One Direction’, the band has taken an indefinite hiatus. When the former couple met, Malik and the band were still performing and recording together. Hadid said of Malik at the time, “He’s so gorgeous, but really it’s a lot more about how we are able to have conversations, we are interested in a lot of the same things. He’s so talented and comes from a really a great place of loving music.”
